
Jimmy Corrigan was a success for both Ware and for the art form itself: by winning an American Book Award and the Guardian First Book Award, Jimmy Corrigan had succeeded, like Maus had so long ago, in convincing an often skeptical world that comics could and should be considered “high” art, worthy of study and critical discourse.
